A bespoke single-piece shower tray is made to the exact dimensions of your bathroom in terrazzo or microcement, jointless and in the colour of your choice. Being a single piece, it removes the joins —a shower's usual weak point— and arrives sealed from the workshop. It's the most reliable option with the cleanest finish.
In the workshop we've made bespoke bathroom pieces since 1975, and the shower tray is one that has changed most in recent years: from the off-the-shelf tray and the floor assembled from parts, we've moved to the single, continuous, bespoke piece. We'll tell you what it is, in which materials we make it and why that 'single piece' matters so much.
What is a bespoke single-piece shower tray?
It's a tray made to the exact size of your shower recess, in which the drainage fall and the waste housing are resolved within the piece itself. It's not a coating assembled from parts or a floor made of several elements: it's a single, continuous surface, with no internal joints.
A maker's note is worth adding here: when the piece is cast in a mould, the slight fall towards the drain is built into the geometry of the piece itself, not created afterwards. That means drainage is guaranteed by the making, and you don't depend on it being sorted on the fly. We produce the piece; the reliability starts right there.

Terrazzo or microcement for the shower tray?
The two materials we make the tray in share a cement base but offer two different looks:
- Microcement: a continuous, smooth, warm surface, jointless. It's the most sought-after for the flush, integrated, minimalist shower look.
- Terrazzo: shows the polished aggregate on view, takes a bespoke colour and is enormously durable. It brings character and makes the tray part of the design, not something to hide.
Each material has its natural porosity, which is why —as with a basin or a worktop— the piece leaves the workshop with a water-repellent treatment applied that prepares it for constant exposure to water. If your search leans towards a stone shower tray, terrazzo is the noble, bespoke route to that mineral look, with the advantage of being a single, sealed piece.
Is the tray non-slip?
Yes: the piece's finish can be treated to give safe grip without giving up looks, which is especially advisable in a shower. It's a finish defined when the piece is made, according to its intended use.
Why is a single piece more reliable? (no joints, no leak points)
This is the underlying argument, and it's purely technical. On a wet surface, joints are the weak point: it's where dirt builds up, where the seal ages first and where, over time, a leak can start. A single piece has no internal joints, so that risk simply doesn't exist within the piece.
To that add the workshop water-repellent seal, applied to the finished piece before delivery, and a continuous, clean finish in keeping with a design bathroom. The sum —a single piece, sealed and with the fall built in— is what brings long-term peace of mind. Against a tray made of several elements, the single piece reduces the joins to zero.

What sizes and finishes can be made to measure?
The piece is made to the recess dimensions, in the colour and finish you choose: a pigment palette for microcement, base and aggregate mix for terrazzo. And like any bespoke piece, it lets you think of the bathroom as a whole: the same material can carry over to the bespoke basin and the bespoke bathroom worktop, for a bathroom that's coherent top to bottom.
So, terrazzo or microcement?
- Total continuity, jointless and soft to the touch → microcement.
- Character, bespoke colour and visible aggregate → terrazzo.
At Mosaics Torra we make bespoke shower trays (and baths) in terrazzo and microcement, as a single piece, in the colour and finish you choose. It's a decision far better made by seeing and touching the material.

Frequently asked questions
Which material is best for a bespoke shower tray, terrazzo or microcement?
Microcement gives a continuous, minimalist surface; terrazzo brings visible aggregate, bespoke colour and great durability. Both are made as a single piece and sealed in the workshop. The choice is aesthetic more than technical.
Is a bespoke shower tray waterproof and non-slip?
Yes. The piece carries a water-repellent treatment applied in the workshop and its finish can be treated for safe grip, according to intended use.
Can you make a single-piece shower tray to measure?
Yes. We make bespoke shower trays to the exact dimensions of the recess, with the fall and waste built into the piece itself, with no internal joints.
Can it be matched to the bathroom basin and worktop?
Yes. As bespoke pieces, the tray can share material and colour with the bespoke basin and the worktop, for a fully coordinated bathroom.
