Concret Diamond is an encaustic cement tile with inlaid marble, granite and mother-of-pearl aggregate, polished after curing. Handmade, piece by piece, as we have done since 1975.

What the Concret Diamond finish is

Concret Diamond is not an imitation or a printed vinyl: it is a real cement tile, with the same cement base and the same 18 mm thickness that characterise Mosaics Torra, to which we add a top layer with inlaid marble, granite and mother-of-pearl aggregate.

The result is a piece that keeps the soul of the encaustic cement tile – its density, its strength, its Mediterranean character – with the aggregate on show: a lively speckle that changes with the light and never repeats exactly between two tiles.

The process

How it is made: aggregate and mother-of-pearl

Each Concret Diamond tile is built up in layers, following the traditional cement-tile method:

Aggregate selection
We select marble and granite aggregate and fragments of mother-of-pearl, calibrated by hand. The size and proportion of the aggregate set the size of the speckle: from a fine, even grain to a more generous, expressive scatter.
The noble layer
First, the coloured and aggregate layer – which will be the visible part – is placed in the mould, by mixing pigmented cement with natural aggregates.
Hydraulic press
The tile is pressed at high pressure, without firing. It is the pressure – not the kiln – that gives encaustic tiles their legendary density and durability.
Cured and polished
After curing, the surface is polished to reveal the inlaid marble and granite aggregate and the mother-of-pearl. This final polish is what brings out each inlay.

The whole process is handcrafted, piece by piece. No two Concret Diamond tiles are alike: it is the signature of the handmade.

Concret Diamond starts from our cement tile of 20×20×1.8 cm: the same cold-pressed piece, with marble, granite and mother-of-pearl aggregate inlaid in the face and polished after curing, without giving up the colour customisation or the quick delivery of our stock.

For architects and interior designers, this opens up an unusual possibility: specifying a surface with the aggregate on show with the traceability, thickness and backing of a cement tile manufacturer with verifiable references – from Casa Batlló to international hotel projects.
