Composition and production: Hydraulic tiles are composed of grey or white Portland cement, marble dust, sand, colour pigments, additives and water. These raw materials are carefully selected and mixed together, then they are introduced into the mould of the tile we are making and finally we introduce them into the hydraulic press to press the tile and have the tile completely finished. Afterwards, we will go on to the setting process where they will have to rest for a minimum of 28 days, in order to guarantee the perfect final quality of our encaustic cement tiless.

Applicable standards: Hydraulic tiles are not regulated by European (CE) or national (UPEC) standards.

The tests carried out in the laboratory to which we refer are performed in the absence of these “standards”, so we rely on the protocols for terrazzo or cement according to standard 1339:2004.

Geometric characteristics:

Data obtained Testing Laboratory Generalitat Catalunya LGAI

Difference between the 4 sides of a tile +/- 0,2 mm

Thickness difference: +/- 0.5 mm

Average pigment layer thickness: 3mm: +/- 1 mm

Surface flatness: Maximum deflection -0.2 mm

Flexural strength: Class 3 U-marking

Wear Resistance: Class 4 Marking I

Slip Resistance: Class 3 (Torraestone anti-slip)

Cement tiles may show slight variations in tone, format or thickness as a result of their handcrafted manufacture and the use of natural products in their production and do not constitute a guarantee of return or restitution of the product. Each tile is unique.

All products made of cement and crushed marble and granite are porous materials and of a «chalky» nature, which means that they can stain.

To limit the risk of staining, we recommend applying our “Torrasealer” sealer for interior mosaics or “Torraestone Sealer” for our exterior encaustic cement tiless, anti-slip or Gaudi Hexagon range, after installation.

It should be borne in mind that newly installed cement tiles are more delicate than old or used cement tiles as these have already aged and the pore of the tile has closed up.
